Since childhood Keith Wright has always had a love for hunting and the outdoors in general. In 1993 he got his first bird dog at the age of fifteen. Bird hunting became an instant passion for Keith. In 1995 Keith met Paul Wright of West Point, Indiana, who had been raising and training English pointers for hunting and field trialing since 1968. It was the beginning of a lifelong friendship for both of them.
In 2005 Keith became interested in the sport of field trials. That same year he began raising a few puppies of his own. Because of his work schedule Keith and his friend John Vanada are only able to attend a few events a year.
In 2006 Keith set up his summer camp at the Stratton Farm near Maxbass, North Dakota. In 2007 he broke ground on a new barn and kennel at his home near Covington, Indiana. In 2008 Keith purchased a cattle farm near West Lebanon, Indiana about ten miles from his home in Covington. Today it is known simply as Redwood because of the beautiful creek that winds through the middle of the property. Annual burning, a native grass restoration project, a complete bird program, along with over ten miles of food plots make this a top venue to maintain top field trial dogs.
In 2009 C. J. Campbell was put in charge of the Redwood facility and Chris Deck was put in charge of kennels and stables at the farm. Both compliment one another on the daily chores with puppies, dogs, birds, and horses.
Also in 2009 a three acre puppy yard was constructed at the kennel to let the pups grow and free run instead of being cramped in small kennels.
In early 2010 the farms on Blalock Drive near Dancyville, Tennessee were purchased.
Also in 2010 Ike Todd along with his fiancé Blair Conley were proudly hired. Quite simply the finest dog trainer in the world today, Ike will be developing and campaigning all the derby and all age field trial dogs. Blair keeps busy at the kennels cleaning and giving all the dogs that extra bit of attention that is so important in keeping g them in top physical shape. The hard work and dedication of these two cannot be equaled and we are delighted to have them both. They will reside and manage the farm at Dancyville, Tennessee.
The entire Wright Kennels staff is committed to raising and developing the finest English Pointers in the world today whether it be field trialing or just plain hunting. We all look forward to working with you in the future.
